Learn Before You Shine
Choosing a diamond is more than just a purchase — it’s a celebration of
love, milestones, and memories. Whether you’re selecting an engagement ring, wedding band, or a fine jewelry
piece, understanding diamonds empowers you to make a confident, meaningful choice. At Klarity Diamonds,
we’ve
created this Diamond Education guide to help you explore every important detail — from quality factors to
diamond types — so you can shine with knowledge as bright as your diamond.
1. The 4Cs of Diamonds
The 4Cs — Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight — are the global standard used to determine a
diamond’s beauty and value.
- Cut
The cut is the single most important factor influencing a diamond’s sparkle. A well-cut diamond
reflects light with brilliance, fire, and scintillation. Grades range from Excellent to
Poor. Even
with perfect color and clarity, a poorly cut diamond will look dull.
- Color
Diamonds are graded from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Colorless
diamonds are rare and
highly valued, while near-colorless grades (G–J) provide an excellent balance of beauty and value,
especially when set in jewelry.
- Clarity
Clarity measures the presence of natural characteristics known as inclusions (internal) and
blemishes (external). The scale ranges from Flawless (FL) to Included (I1–I3). Most inclusions are
too small to be visible to the naked eye and do not affect the diamond’s beauty.
- Carat Weight
Carat refers to a diamond’s weight, not just its size. Larger carats are rarer, but bigger does not
always mean better — a smaller, well-cut diamond can outshine a larger, poorly cut one.
2. Diamond Shapes
Each diamond shape carries a unique personality, style, and meaning. Klarity Diamonds offers a wide
range to match your taste:
- Round Brilliant – The most classic and sparkling cut.
- Princess – Sharp, modern, and contemporary.
- Cushion – Vintage-inspired with soft edges.
- Oval – Elegant, with a finger-lengthening effect.
- Pear – Feminine and distinctive with a teardrop silhouette.
- Emerald – Sophisticated with an art deco appeal.
- Asscher, Radiant, Marquise, and Heart – Bold, stylish, and expressive options for unique
personalities.
3. Natural vs. Lab-Grown Diamonds
At Klarity Diamonds, we believe in offering choices that align with your values.
- Natural DiamondsFormed deep beneath the earth’s surface over billions of years, each natural
diamond carries a piece of history and timeless rarity.
- Lab-Grown DiamondsCreated using advanced technology, lab-grown diamonds have the same
physical, chemical, and optical properties as natural diamonds. They are sustainable,
environmentally friendly, and often more affordable, making them a modern and conscious choice.
4. Diamond Certification
Every diamond from Klarity Diamonds is accompanied by certification from internationally trusted
gemological labs, ensuring authenticity and transparency.
- GIA (Gemological Institute of America)– The most widely recognized authority in diamond
grading.
- IGI (International Gemological Institute)– Known for reliable grading and certification.
These certificates provide an unbiased assessment of the 4Cs, so you can buy with complete confidence.
5. Diamond Anatomy
Understanding diamond anatomy helps you appreciate how a diamond captures and reflects light:
- Table– The flat top surface where light enters.
- Crown – The upper section above the girdle.
- Girdle – The widest part of the diamond that defines its shape.
- Pavilion – The bottom section that reflects light back to the eye.
- Culet – The tiny point at the base.
Each of these parts plays a role in how brilliant and fiery your diamond will appear.
